Charlestown Primary Celebrates 30 Years!

The school celebrated its 30th anniversary on April 27th under the theme CPS at 30; Overcoming Challenges Building Resilience and Sustaining Academic Excellence” which commenced with a church service at the Shiloh Baptist Church on May 4th. Members of staff, students, past staff members, parents and well wishers were in attendance. Pastor Wayne Maynard ‘s sermonette admonished the students to persevere in spite of challenges.
The celebration continued with a month of activities including a Poetry competition, cocktail, Motivational Day – which saw past principals in Mrs. Alice Swanston,
Mr. Kevin Barrett and Ms. Latoya Jeffers delivering motivational talks to the Juniors of the school.
Appreciation Day- Staff members and students visited three persons who would have contributed significantly to the school over the years and distributed food hampers. The recipients were; Mrs. Violet Manners, Ms. Tessa Parry and Mr. Alvan Rawlins…….. We thank them for their love and support.

Awards of excellence!

“International Day of the Boy Child”, is celebrated annually on the 16th May. The theme for this year was “Boys Under Construction: Promoting Positive Attitudes in our Boys.” The student must exhibit virtues in areas of respect, compassion, exemplary behaviour and attitude. The recipient of this award is Ryan Taylor. We congratulate and encourage Ryan to remain focused and humble.
